Gala Hernández López is an artist, filmmaker, and researcher. Her work critically analyzes new modes of subjectivation produced by computational capitalism and has been presented at international festivals and institutions such as Cannes, Berlinale, DOK Leipzig, SEMINCI, IndieLisboa, Berlinische Galerie, Cinéma du Réel, Palais de Tokyo, Punto de Vista, Documenta Madrid, transmediale, Int. Kurzfilmtage Winterthur, FRAC Île-de-France, and the Salon de Montrouge, among others. In 2024, La Mecánique des fluides (2023), the first part of a trilogy on digital capitalism, received the César award for best documentary short film. for here am i sitting in a tin can far above the world (2024) had its world premiere at the Berlinale – Forum Expanded in 2024. The last piece of the series, +10k (2025), was presented at Cannes' Directors’ Fortnight. She is currently working on the post-production of her new short film, like moths to light, while developing another short (co-directed with Eduardo Castillo Vinuesa), shooting I speak words of love but I see the sky falling, and writing her first feature-length fiction film.
