Instrucciones para cocinar un pollo bajo tierra
Spain / 2025 / 29'
Plot
Cooking a chicken underground for 8 hours. Keeping a couple afloat in the middle of a Decathlon. Bringing together 26 people to tell the same story. None of this is easy; it requires time, patience and collaboration, so much that it might seem pointless to do it. But Olivia and Nacho believe that the most absurd memories are the ones that last. And for them, it is important to continue building memories together. At a time when getting together to create something is almost utopian, these characters are trying, even if the chicken ends up burning.

Nacho and Olivia, trained in performing arts, are used to spending long periods of time immersed in collective creation and research processes. They have shared workshops at the EICTV in Cuba and at the Conde Duque Winter School. There, they began to forge a way of thinking and imagining together. They discovered how different they were when it came to working and how that difference allowed them to step outside their comfort zone, complement each other and grow. How to cook a chicken underground is their first short film as directors.
In Nacho Sánchez’s theatrical career, highlights include a nomination for the 2023 Fotogramas de Plata as Best Theater Actor for Gestos, the Actors’ Union Award for Best New Actor for La piedra oscura—both directed by Pablo Messiez—and the Max Award for Best Actor for Iván and the Dogs (directed by Víctor Sánchez Rodríguez). His film debut came in 2019 with Seventeen by Daniel Sánchez Arévalo, which earned him a Goya Award nomination. He also holds a Feroz Award for Best Leading Actor. In 2025, he will premiere Subsuelo by Fernando Franco.
Olivia Delcán is an actress and creator. In 2015, she premiered the film Isla Bonita at the San Sebastián Film Festival, which she co-wrote with Fernando Colomo and Miguel Ángel Furones.
