Límite fantasma AV
La Casa Encendida. Viernes 28/11, 21:00 h.

The experimental Madrid-based musician Jose Venditti joins the Spanish-Venezuelan filmmaker Óscar Vincentelli to present Phantom Limit, a dialogue between Venditti’s processed saxophone loops and Vincentelli’s images, which focus on the body and on matter. This collaboration marks the director’s first venture into live visuals and proposes a sensory exploration between the physical and the spectral.

Where does the body end?
Where does vibration spread and reach other ears, other bodies?
In Phantom Limit, the universes of Venditti and Vincentelli merge to invite the audience to exercise their affective capacities and explore their bodily connection with sound. Venditti transforms the saxophone into a breathing machine, an extended body that expands between the human and the electronic. Vincentelli re-embodies visual archives from his deepest imaginary, creating echoes that project themselves onto the sensitive materiality of the image. Together, they construct a territory where the minimal becomes amplified to the point of becoming monumental; where air turns into matter, and matter into shared space. An exploration of the continuity between body, machine, and landscape; of the possibility that breath, light, and vibration might ultimately be one and the same body.

José Venditti

Sound and visual artist from Extremadura, based in Madrid.

Interested in understanding musical social constructs and confronting them: the sonic struggle between the familiar and understandable and the perhaps unknown and abstract, the tensions created in that confrontation.

Using sound as his main creative material, his work takes shape through various artistic practices such as live performance, musical/sound composition, sound actions, and live cinema. His approach pays special attention to the origin and processing of the sound sources he uses, questioning the dichotomies that exist between organic and mechanical, analog and digital, natural and artificial, and real and fictional.

He has presented his work and artistic projects at the Reina Sofía National Art Museum, Teatros del Canal, La Casa Encendida, Círculo de Bellas Artes, Medialab Prado, Teatro Circo Price, Palacio de Festivales de Santander, Centro Botin, Espacio Fundación Telefónica, SEMINCI Valladolid, Tabakalera Donosti, Montevideo International Sound Art Festival, Museo de la Memoria de Montevideo (Uruguay), Heritage Space Hanoi (Vietnam), Platohedro Medellín (Colombia), Sonic Dreams Festival (Ireland), etc.
